Chamber Ensembles

Members of the brass area at MSU look are dedicated to the artistic performance of brass literature...and having fun doing it! Student-led chamber ensembles rehearse from one to three times weekly and receive regular coaching from the brass faculty and guest artists.

Current Chamber Ensembles

Founded in the Fall of 2007, the Brass Monkey brass quintet has performed at the MSU Brass Seminar (2007) and several on-campus chamber music concerts. The members are Ariel Biholar and A. J. Taylor, trumpets; Anna Quinn, horn; Tessa Rose, trombone; and Mark Edwards, tuba.
The Dog Bones trombone quartet was founded in Fall 200p and includes members Matt Christian, Andrew Everett, Fred Hadley and Luke Hollingsworth. Dog Bones rehearses and performs a wide variety of music and has been heard on MSU Brass concerts as well as in the greater community.
Founded in the Spring of 2010, the Friends in Low Places tuba quartet is the newest member of the MSU chamber brass family. Comprised of members Mark Edwards, Web Floyd, John Payne and Justin Silas; FILP performs original compositions and transcriptions of music from the Renaissance to rock and jazz tunes.
Kickin' Brass Quintet was founded in the Fall of 2006. They have performed for the MSU Brass Seminar (2006, 2007), chamber music concerts on campus and their first full recital in the Spring of 2008. Current members are Adam Arredando and Patrick Vincent, trumpets; Holly Howell, horn; Justin Crenshaw, trombone; and John Payne, tuba.
